As Mike Miller of the Miami Heat, prepares for tonight’s game 5 against the Chicago Bulls, he does so with a heavy heart. Miller has spent the majority of his time this past week in the hospital with his newborn daughter, Jaelyn.  Born with an undisclosed health issue caused by complications from childbirth,  Jaelyn has remained in the intensive care unit since her birth last Thursday. “Sometimes, people don’t realize we go through the same things most people go through,” said Mike.

Miller, who has been going back and forth from practices and games to the hospital says, “As important as the playoffs or the Eastern Conference Finals are to me, the most important thing right now is (Jaelyn) and my wife.”

Miller made the incredibly difficult decision to travel with the team to Chicago and play in tonight’s game. “It’s tough because I really  haven’t been away from her since she was born ,” he said.

Pictured here with his wife Jennifer and their two oldest children, the Millers once donated one million dollars to Sanford Children’s Hospital in his hometown of Mitchell, South Dakota. In honor of their contribution, the hospital named their pediatric intensive care unit the Mike and Jennifer Miller Pediatric Intensive Care Unit.
