Our family has been so blessed to see my husband have an 18 year NBA career. Out of all the teams he’s played for, he’s finally in New York…and not with the Knicks, I might add. There’s a new team in town; the Brooklyn Nets! Its been an amazing experience to be part of all the excitement and hype surrounding this team. I can’t wait for the season opener on November 1st against that other New York team!
My last trip there was pretty eventful. The kids were able to take a couple days off from school and come with me, which made our time there even more fun. We shopped a little, ate a lot, checked out Spiderman on Broadway, and went to two Nets games. I even had a mini photo shoot and interview with the New York Post! Fun times indeed! “Behind The Bench” the National Basketball Wives Association recently held their annual conference in the city of Atlanta. Amazing can’t even begin to describe this event. Kristina Ratliff and Dee Dee Abdur-Rahim were co-chairs, along with our President Sandra Evans Short, in planning this awesome weekend filled with fun, love, and most of all sisterhood. After 18 years of my hubby playing in the league, this is surprisingly my first conference and first year as a member. So this experience was totally new for me. But I had the best time and bonded with some of the sweetest, most down-to-earth women you could ever meet. That’s me in the green.
Late last Wednesday night after the Hawks vs. Knicks game, I get a call from my hubby as he’s boarding the plane to return home. “Looks like we’re going to All-Star. We leave Friday morning.” My response… “Well, let me get myself together!” After 17 seasons in the league, it was truly an honor for the NBA to invite Jerry to replace the injured Joe Johnson to represent Team Atlanta in the Haier Shooting Stars competition on All-Star Saturday Night. The Shooting Stars competition pairs a current player, a former player, and a WNBA player to represent the city. Teaming up with Steve Smith and Lindsey Harding, Jerry and Team Atlanta competed against Teams from Orlando, Texas, and New York. Even though Team New York (Allan Houston, Landry Fields, Cappie Pondexter) won the competition, we had a ball the entire weekend!
Last week as part of the Market America Annual World Conference in Miami, La La launched her new cosmetics line, Motives for La La. Partnering with Motives by Loren Ridinger Cosmetics, the line will include six different product categories – lipsticks, lip shines, eyeshadows, blushes, and shimmers, all in shades that compliment Latina and African-American skin tones.
“Having my name on a cosmetics line has always been a dream, one I’m excited to share. Every girl always tries to find that perfect color or shade that suits their personality, and now she can do it easily and affordably.” – La La Anthony
Jason Terry of the World Champion Dallas Mavericks, celebrated his birthday last Thursday night in Dallas with a huge bash. Trophy in tow, the “Jet” partied with his wife Johnyika, along with a bunch of their celeb friends including Lil’ Kim, Jadakiss, Jeezy, DJ Clue, and more. Jerry and I flew down to Dallas for the “all blue everything” event and had a great time!
Mr. & Mrs. Anthony made an appearance on “Live with Regis and Kelly” this morning in New York City. (I love that show!) As always, Lala looked fabulous while she discussed the trade, their move to NYC, her reality show, and more. Check out a couple of clips from the live interview.
